July In Focus: Martyn's Law

Each month, we'll be shining a light on a timely topic relevant to your work as a church administrator. Whether it's a change in legislation, a seasonal event to prepare for, or a practical reminder, In Focus is here to help you stay informed and resourced in your role.

We all want to keep everyone safe as they worship with us and attend our events and caring for others is at the heart of the gospel. This month, we're highlighting proposed counter-terrorism law: Martyn's Law, which received royal assent earlier this year, giving you and your churches the opportunity to start looking at how to be prepared to ensure premises, services and events open to the public, comply with any new regulation ahead of time.

There are different requirements dependant on the capacity of your premises or attendees at events. The Evangelical Alliance have been working on behalf of churches as this law has been developed - see their article HERE. And listen to the podcast Evangelical Alliance's Director of Advocacy Danny Webster did with Gavin at The Church Office HERE to find out more about the changes you will need to be aware of.

Lastly, don't forget the Facebook Forum for Administrator and Manager level members - a great place to ask questions, share resources and find inspiration!
