Course Tutor Opportunity

UCAN is looking for a new tutor for its distance learning course The Work of a Church Administrator to join a team of three others. Women and those from ethnic minorities are particularly underrepresented in the current tutor team.

The course includes applying Christian principles, church ethos and biblical teaching to administration and operations in a church setting. There is therefore an Occupational Requirement that tutors should be practising Christians in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

The work involves acting as a personal mentor and encourager to about four to seven students, marking their three written assignments in line with the methods employed by our academic provider, Cliff College (see the academic note below), and working as part of a close-knit team of fellow tutors to improve the course and deal with any special issues that arise.

You will have educational experience such as teaching, lecturing, private tutoring or working with Level 3 NVQ students plus extensive, practical involvement in church operations.

Tutors see many students, most of whom are UCAN members, become excited at this highly practical course.  Tutors receive a modest payment for each tutee.

For more information of the course see https://www.churchadministrators.net/course.  If interested please email John Truscott, the tutor team leader, on john@john-truscott.co.uk briefly stating your relevant experience, qualifications and reasons for interest in this role.

Academic note
The course carries an internal accreditation at certificate (Level 3) via our partnership with Cliff College (www.cliffcollege.ac.uk). The college offers academic support through their moderator who is currently Ian White MA, PGDip; Mission and Ministry Consultant, Cliff College.

All tutors work alongside the moderator and adhere to marking processes which have been agreed between the partners. The prospective tutor would be expected to use these marking processes which would be outlined as part of the welcome and induction to the role.
