Each month, we'll be shining a light on a timely topic relevant to your work as a church administrator. Whether it's a change in legislation, a seasonal event to prepare for, or a practical reminder, In Focus is here to help you stay informed and resourced in your role.
With just over 70 days until Christmas, this topic is surely on every church's agenda! Some of us will have our Christmas plans finalised, while others are just beginning, with many somewhere in between. While traditions are great, it's always wise to take stock, review feedback from previous years, and consider what is right for us now.
Christmas is a unique opportunity for our churches, bringing in many visitors. Our mission is to do more than just say "hello" and "see you next Christmas!" We may strive for fabulously professional events, but in the midst of the busyness, let's remember to keep the main thing the main thing: We are here to share the gospel and change lives.
This perspective leads us to ask critical questions:
How can we ensure that visitors who attend our Christmas events feel invited to stay connected?
How can we make it easy for new people to engage with our church beyond the Christmas season and into the New Year?
The key is in the planning. As administrators, we are the engine room of this process. Let's map out our Christmas and New Year calendars, making sure all dates for upcoming events are on our invitations and in the hands of the people we engage with.
Juggling the hectic festive season alongside our usual tasks can be demanding. So, take a moment to step back and reflect. Look for practical ways to connect with visitors and create a clear pathway that extends the invitation beyond seasonal events and into the new year.
