Every month, we'll be shining a light on a timely topic relevant to your work as a church administrator. Whether it's a change in legislation, a seasonal event to prepare for, or a practical reminder, In Focus is here to help you stay informed and resourced in your role.
This article offers some practical areas for churches to consider checking regularly. Because every church operates differently, there is no single checklist that fits all situations. You should therefore assess your own setting and ensure that you and your trustees understand what is required.
The HSE website offers resources and checklists for community buildings:

Training:
Clearly define roles and responsibilities (alongside your health and safety policy) for those leading groups/areas. Consider who needs to complete appropriate courses such as first aid, to understand safe practices, risks, and responsibilities. Assess which staff/volunteers need to understand your practices and procedures.
Documentation:
Have clear, documented records for processes, training (in-house & certified) and checks undertaken.
